This Week’s Class – Len Schoppa

For part of our discussion in this week’s class, we will be joined via video link by Professor Len Schoppa of the University of Virginia, who is one of the leading experts on Japan in in the US. Len has recently become associate dean for the social sciences at UVA. Here is a 2002 paper by Len, in which he looked at how Japanese domestic politics shaped the US-Japan security relationship in the 1950s. For two-level game fans, here is Len’s chapter on “Domestic Politics” from the book US-Japan Relations in a Changing Worldwhich was edited by Steven Vogel and published in 2002.
